details
Markus Ehrmann studied in Tuebingen and Munich, where he worked as a student assistant to Professor Hans-Juergen Papier. After his studies, he worked from 1995 to 1997 as an assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg where, in addition to his general responsibilities, he performed research in international environmental law.
During that period, he participated as an observer in the meetings of the executive bodies of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the negotiation of the Kyoto Protocol. At the same time, he wrote his dissertation on "Compliance control in international environmental law."
Markus Ehrmann performed his legal internship with the Court of Appeal in Berlin, with stations including the Senate Administration for Urban Development, Environmental Protection and Technology, the Federal Environmental Agency and the Federal Ministry of Justice.
From spring 2000 through autumn 2004, Markus Ehrmann worked in the Berlin office of the law firm Clifford Chance, where he specialised in the drafting of standard concession agreements and regulations for the awarding of concessions via the operator model for the multi-lane highway development ("so called A-Model") of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Building and Housing in 2002. The most recent focus of his activities was emissions trading. Finally, he worked on all issues of environmental law and all the aspects of public environmental, planning and regulatory law which arise in a large law firm with clients in the business world. This included advising various German and foreign investors on questions of environmental law for numerous corporate mergers and acquisitions.
In October 2004, Markus Ehrmann joined the public law division of our firm, where he specialises in the intersection of energy and environmental law, especially emissions trading and the approval of facilities. He also advises clients on all questions of procurement law, public law, and environmental law in particular.
